This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the Pink Radio mobile application (“the app”). It is written to be read, not to cover us — if anything here is unclear, please ask.
Pink Radio is an independent online radio station based in Greece, and is the data controller for the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). It is not a registered company; the station is run by the individuals behind it, who can be reached at the address below and will identify themselves on request.

The app has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. It does not ask for your name, email, location, contacts, photos, or microphone. It stores nothing about you on your device beyond ordinary app data.
Information reaches us in only four ways: technical data that any web server receives, anything you choose to type into the chat, a check for app updates, and – only if you switch new-content notifications on – an anonymous push token for your installation.
Playing the stream and loading show, news, podcast and event listings means your device contacts our servers and our streaming provider. Like any internet service, those servers automatically receive:
We use this only to deliver the audio and content you asked for, to keep the service running, and to count how many people are listening in aggregate. We do not use it to build a profile of you or to identify you personally.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating and securing the service (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).
Audio streaming is provided by our hosting partner, whose servers also receive your IP address in order to send you the stream.
The Chat section opens our website’s chat room inside the app. If you use it, the nickname and messages you enter are stored on our servers so that the conversation works and can be moderated. Your IP address may also be recorded for moderation and abuse prevention.
Anything you post in chat is public and visible to other users. Please do not share personal information there.
Legal basis: your consent, given by choosing to participate (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), and our legitimate interest in moderating the room.
Chat messages are retained for 6 months.
The app checks for updates using Expo’s update service. That check sends technical information such as your app version, platform and device type to Expo’s servers. It does not include anything personal about you. Expo’s privacy policy is at https://expo.dev/privacy.
Notifications are optional. Declining the permission, or switching everything off later, does not stop the radio working. The app uses them for three separate things.
Playback controls. While the radio is playing, a notification carries the play and pause controls to your lock screen and notification shade. Nothing is sent anywhere for this.
Show reminders. If you turn them on, your phone reminds you shortly before a show starts. These are scheduled and fired entirely on your device from the public programme schedule. We are not told that you use them, and no reminder is sent from our servers.
New content announcements. If you turn these on, we can let you know when a new article, editorial or podcast episode is published. This one does involve us: your device is issued an anonymous push token by Expo’s push service and Google’s Firebase Cloud Messaging, and we store that token on our server together with the categories you chose. The token identifies an installation of the app, not you – it carries no name, email or account, and we cannot use it to read anything from your phone. Turning every category off deletes the token from our server, and uninstalling the app makes it invalid.
Legal basis: your consent, given by enabling the category (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw in the app’s notification settings at any time.
Announcements are about the station’s own programming. We do not send advertising, and we do not pass your token to anyone except the push services named above, which deliver the message on our behalf. Expo’s privacy policy is at https://expo.dev/privacy; Google’s is at policies.google.com/privacy.
The app links to our pages on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Mixcloud, TuneIn and Live24. Opening one of these leaves the app, and that service’s own privacy policy applies. We have no control over what they collect.
We disclose information only where the law requires it, or to the service providers who host our website and stream, who act on our instructions.
The app is a general-audience radio service and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided information through our chat, contact us and we will remove it.
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
Write to pinkradio2023@gmail.com and we will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (www.dpa.gr).
Server logs are kept for 30 days and then deleted. Chat messages are kept as described above. We keep nothing longer than we need it.
If this policy changes we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will be announced in the app or on our website.
